Horse Trainer, Coach, Showman, and more...

BILL CAMERON

Bill starting working along side his dad, Denzel Cameron, from the time he could walk. Denzel Cameron was legendary in the horse world - known for training Liberty Horses, which perform without being ridden or touched.  This type of training is a specialized equestrian art.  Denzel  was one of the country's top horse trainers, who also trained horses and other animals for the "silver screen".

Denzel's legacy lives on through his son Bill.

Bill Cameron-Jockey

At 9 years old Bill was riding race horses out of the starting gates for his dad.  After winning several races at the Victorville Fairgrounds at 14 years of age, it was obvious Bill would soon grow to be too tall for a jockey.   Bill's passion then shifted to the show world.  At the age of 17 Bill trained a renegade mare to show in the 5000 Stock Horse Triumph at the Forum in Los Angeles. With this mare Bill placed 5th against the finest competition in the country, many of whom were legendary top trainers and experienced show horses.  This impressive team later competed in the Stock Horse Sweepstakes at a fair in Lancaster and placed second out of 17 horses.  The duo continued on victoriously in many competitions through out Southern California.

Bill meets Xenophonn.

By the time Bill was 21 and with all that behind him he met Xenophonn, the famous Arabian stallion in the book of legends.  Bill's father, Denzel, used Xenophonn as a turn back horse to help Bill train other horses.  Xenophonn had already been sent out to a famous trainer to learn cutting but Xenophonn showed no interest in it.  On Denzel's recommendation, Bill started training Xenophonn to cut cattle and in six months Bill and Xenophonn went to their first show walking away with 4 first place winnings.

Bill turns his attention to Reined Cow Horses.

In 1988 Bill placed 3rd in the Pro-Am World Championship Snaffle Bit Maturity in Reno, Nevada.  That same year Bill led the nation and won the West Coast Cal-Western Appaloosa Association Hackamore Reining Championship on "Sheza Commandart".  With limited showings, Bill took "Check Me Out Montana" to NRCHA Hackamore Championship at Oceano then turned around and won the Central Coast Reining Horse Association Open Jackpot Reining.

Bill  and "Dun It For Money"

Bill acquired a buckskin stallion named "Dun It For Money" by the famous "Hollywood Dun It".  Destiny put them together at a pivotal time for both of them.  Soon after Bill acquired this fine stallion he knew he really had a star.  Bill took "Dun It For Money" and "Chex Me Out Montana" to Griffith Park West Coast Circuit in AQHA Senior Reining.  They placed 5th and 8th against 30 of the best West Coast trainers and horses.  In 2002, Bill entered "Dun It For Money" in the prestigious Monterey National Horse Show and the Annual Santa Barbara Fiesta Rodeo and Stock Horse Show in the Open Reining.   Bill and "Dun It For Money" dominated the competition and walked away with two championships.  Dun It is retired from the show circuit.  Dun It For Money and Bill are often seen doing  demonstrations for 4-H groups

Bill's Philosophy:  The key ingredient in training is strategy and psychology.  I believe that a horse's intelligence is equal to humans and I treat them accordingly.   I've learned "a bag of tricks" from many top horse trainers; my solid training foundation came from my father, Denzel Cameron.

A horse is the reflection of his rider;  they are not inanimate objects.  They are extremely intelligent.

A spoiled horse is usually the result of an owner or trainer who is not accountable for their actions.  My reward is to see a horse that is disenchanted with people, turn around to like and trust them again.  This is the most difficult task for a trainer.
